YouthCare works to end youth homelessness and to ensure that young people are valued for who they are and empowered to achieve their potential. Founded in 1974, YouthCare was one of the first shelters to serve runaway and homeless youth on the West Coast. Since then, YouthCare has expanded to 16 sites serving over 1,500 youth every year. Through a comprehensive range of services including early intervention, shelter, housing, education, and employment training, YouthCare ensures that young people experiencing homelessness have the hope, skills, and self-confidence to thrive.

$1,000 enables a young person to work with skilled YC staff to build a personalized action plan to address their unique needs, from enrolling in GED tutoring, to securing stable housing, to enrolling in employment programs, and more.

$750 supports a young person through an paid internship or job training program that will help them build confidence, life skills, interview preparedness, and a professional network.

$500 reconnects a young person to education. From gaining a high school diploma to preparing for their GED, supplies like calculators, books, and pens help our students build their futures.

Programs

Stabilization: Engagement, Shelter, and Housing

Our Engagement Centers and Housing programs help young people access safety, stability they need to move from surviving to thriving. on-site case management staff work closely with young people to address barriers to success and meet their futures. YouthCare has 15 locations throughout Seattle and King County.

Workforce Development: Employment & Education

YouthCare's workforce development programs offer critical connections to life skills and job-readiness programs, paid internship and employment programs, GED completion programs, secondary education connections. YouthCare programs take a strengths-based approach to helping young people move forward out of instability and homelessness.

Meal Preparation & Delivery

Providing meals to youth staying in our programs is our biggest need, especially during COVID. If you’re looking for a simple yet crucial way to help, consider cooking and delivering (or order delivery from a local restaurant) to one of our youth programs.

Basic Needs & Supply Drives

The young people we serve consistently need hygiene supplies, clothing, and food. Our seasonal drives are crucial to helping us meet those immediate needs. But hosting a drive is also one of the best ways to raise awareness in our community about youth homelessness. Your business, organization, school, church, or community group can make a big difference by hosting a drive and spreading the word.
