Yoga Strong Foundation strives to provide resources to students in the local community.
We connect the community through yoga practice, supporting our annual YSF scholarship. Furthermore, we foster the community for children to thrive today and for the future.
It all started with beer, yoga and a desire to do more in the community. Yoga Strong Foundation has been hosting Bend & Brew since 2015. A portion of the proceeds raised from this weekly event go to fund the student athletic scholarships.
Since then, we have created other programs to reach more youth in Southeast Michigan, including: New Kicks for Kids giving kids confidence through new shoes; Operation: Christmas Wishes provided hundreds of low-income elementary children with Christmas Gifts; and a food pantry where we stock and replenish breakfast and snack options for High School students.
In 2023 we awarded two students with a $3,000 college scholarship.
In 2018, the heartwarming initiative, Operation: Christmas Wishes, came to life, aiming to spread joy and warmth during the holiday season. Partnering with the spirited students at Brighton High School, we embarked on a mission to create unforgettable moments for those in need. In just two weeks, our dedicated team shopped, wrapped, and personally delivered gifts to over 300 low-income elementary students, turning dreams into reality.
What started as a heartfelt endeavor has evolved into an annual tradition, growing more robust with each passing year. In 2022, Operation: Christmas Wishes reached new heights! We raised $21,000 and we provided 325 children with hats, gloves, coloring books, crayons and each child's wish list gift of choice. Not stopping there, 179 of these young hearts received the gift of warmth in the form of winter boots.
Operation: Christmas Wishes not only illuminates the holiday season with the spirit of giving but also the power of community collaboration and the transformative impact of small acts of kindness. As we continue to expand this fun-filled tradition, the smiles on the faces of these children remind us that the true magic of the season lies in the generosity and compassion we share with others.
